What Christadelphians Believe about

Alleged Biblical Errors
Space does not permit a discussion of all alleged Biblical errors and contradictions. However they can all be resolved by the same basic method so I will discuss just one. Always read the Bible very carefully before deciding that something is a contradiction. Consider the place of Jesus birth.

A House or a Stable?
According to Luke 2:7, Jesus was born in a stable "And [Mary] brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Matthew, however seems to tell a different story. "And when [the Wise Men] were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother" .So then, was there room at the inn or wasn't there? If Jesus was born in a stable how could the Wise Men have visited him in a house?

The answer is very simple. There is nothing in the Bible to suggest that the Wise Men visited just after Jesus' birth, and ample evidence to show that it may have been some time afterwards. First of all, isn't it odd that only Luke mentions the shepherds visiting the baby Jesus and only Matthew mentions the Wise Men? If they both visited at the same time surely both stories would have mentioned them. Herod, the king at the time of Christ's birth, had all the children under the age of two slaughtered when it became apparent that The Wise Men were not returning to him - see Matthew 2:16. It would seem that Jesus was already a few months, if not even two years, old when the wise men visited him. Of course by this time Jesus' family would have moved into a house.

All contradictions in the Bible can be resolved in this way: look carefully at the allegedly conflicting passages and ask yourself if they are really contradictory.

Plain Mistakes
Finally a word about factual error. I have seen comparatively few examples of the Bible being considered wrong about some historical fact. The history of the Bible times is not well known, and the 'official' picture changes often. There is plenty of evidence to believe that the Bible is true and when the Bible and accepted history are at odds you must ask yourself which you will believe: a recent theory of Man or the established Word of God.
