The
Promises To David
A Basis For God's Kingdom.
David
was the second king who reigned over Israel.
He is also described as a man after God's heart - in the New Testament! (Acts
13:22 ).
Because
of his drive and enthusiasm to build a temple for God
he received a wonderful promise (1Chronicles
17:11-14).
The
promise involved a son of David sitting on a throne in Jerusalem
because David was king in Jerusalem when the promise was made
and he would reign for ever (1Chronicles
17:14).
David eventually died and was buried.
Jesus
is the one promised to David.
He will sit on David's throne (Luke
1:30-33)
This will happen when Jesus returns to earth.
This was a concern that the disciples had after Jesus' resurrection (Acts
1:6 ).
Jesus
promises faithful Christians a place with him in his throne - the throne of
David - (Revelation
3:21)
Do the promises to David figure in your Christian faith?
